A cable lockout device is a LOTO device made up of a body and a flexible cable attached to it. The cable is passed through valve handles, circuit breaker holes or lid handles, tensioned so that no slack remains, and secured by fitting a safety padlock to the body. In this way one or more energy isolation points are locked out at the same time with a single device.
A cable lockout is the most flexible solution at points with no dedicated lock, irregular shapes or points very close together. For example, you can thread several valves on a manifold onto a single cable and secure them all at once. - Cable length: Measure between the two farthest points to be connected and add an allowance for threading and tensioning.
- Cable material: For electrical applications prefer PVC-coated cable; in damp or chemical environments prefer stainless steel cable.
