Circuit breaker lockout equipment is a LOTO device that physically prevents the circuit breaker in a panel from being switched on or off by someone else during maintenance. In the field it is also searched for as a breaker lock, fuse lock or panel fuse lock. After the breaker is set to the OFF position, the device is fitted over the toggle, and a safety padlock and warning tag are attached to it.
A common scenario in electrical work accidents is the line being worked on being re-energized by someone unaware. The lock eliminates this possibility mechanically, while the tag tells those nearby why and by whom the panel was locked.
Because the toggle width and body construction of each breaker vary by brand and type, a single model does not fit every panel. That is why we offer more than 20 different lockout models together, for miniature circuit breakers (MCB), moulded case breakers and large-type circuit breakers.
Types of Circuit Breaker Lockout Equipment
POS, PIS, TBLO and POW type MCB lockouts
Developed for miniature breakers inside panels, these types differ by toggle direction and how they fit into the holes on the breaker.
Universal MCB lockouts
Their adjustable design adapts to different brands and toggle widths, offering a single solution for mixed-brand panels.
Clamp-on shackle padlocks
Models that wrap around the toggle and are tightened with a screw for a firm grip on moulded case circuit breakers and breakers with wide toggles.
Snap-on lockouts
Fits and comes off in seconds without tools; saves time on panels where maintenance is frequent.
Tight-fit and large-grip lockouts
Large-body models that grip the handle firmly on high-current circuit breakers with wide handles.
MCB lockouts with tag
Combines lockout and tagout in a single body; also reduces the need to hang a separate tag in tight panels.
Model selection table
First identify the breaker type and trigger design, then determine the suitable lock family from the table below.
| Series / Model | Circuit breaker type | Trigger design | Recommended use |
|---|---|---|---|
| BD-D01 – D04 – POS / PIS / TBLO / POW | Miniature circuit breaker (MCB) | Narrow toggle, inside panel | Line-by-line lockout in single-brand MCB panels |
| BD-D05-1-RED / BD-D05-3 – Universal | Mixed-brand MCBs | Different toggle widths | Panels with breakers from different manufacturers |
| BD-D06 – D09 – Snap-on | MCBs and small breakers | Standard trigger | Panels with frequent maintenance that need quick lockout |
| BD-D11N – Clamp-type fuse lockout | Clamp-type fuse | Short toggle | Screw fastening of short-toggle breakers |
| BD-D12X – Clamp-on | Compact circuit breaker / MCCB | Wide toggle | Moulded case circuit breakers in machine and distribution panels |
| BD-D13X – Oversized clamp-on | Large circuit breaker | Extra-wide trigger | High-current main supply circuit breakers |
- Breaker type: Determine whether the device to be locked is an MCB, a moulded case circuit breaker or a large circuit breaker; each group works with a different family of locks.
- Toggle dimensions: Measure the width and thickness of the toggle; if the dimensions are uncertain, prefer adjustable universal models.
- Fitting type: Some MCB locks seat with pins in the holes below or above the toggle, so check the hole layout on the breaker body.
- Mounting method: Choose tool-free snap-on models for fast, frequent use, and screw-type clamp-on models where a tight, permanent hold is required.
- Padlock compatibility: Make sure the lockout hole on the device matches the shackle diameter of the safety padlock you use.
- Set requirement: For panels containing different types of breakers, consider electrical LOTO sets that include several locks together.
Where Is Circuit Breaker Lockout Equipment Used?
Distribution panels
In building and facility panels, the energy of each line is isolated and locked out separately.
Machine control cabinets
Before maintenance of production machines, main and auxiliary switches are fixed in the off position.
MCC and automation panels
In motor control centres, many circuit breakers are locked out at the same time.
Energy and infrastructure facilities
Circuit breakers are safely kept disabled during transformer, generator and power plant maintenance.

Circuit Breaker Lockout Equipment Prices and Models
Circuit breaker lockout equipment is the most fundamental part of the electrical side of LOTO programs. From miniature circuit breaker lockouts to moulded case circuit breaker lockouts, and from snap-on models to large clamp-style devices, you can find a wide range of models in a single category.
The right model depends on the breaker type, toggle size and mounting preference. Universal lockouts for mixed-brand panels, tool-free snap-on models for frequently serviced points and screw-clamp lockouts for moulded case breakers offer practical solutions. Remember to use each device together with a safety padlock and a warning tag.
Because circuit breaker lockout prices vary by model and quantity, we prepare a quote specific to your needs. Simply send the product code, the quantity or a photo of your breaker via WhatsApp or phone.
